All consumers on the Moffat Substation will be affected by an outage on Thursday, May 2. Outage will begin at 8:00AM and last for approximately 45 minutes to one hour.

An outside contractor specializing in large transformers will take the Moffat transformer off line to add additional oil. This should allow the cooperative to keep the transformer working at optimal conditions for many years to come. Also, by doing the work now, it is possible it will prevent an untimely and unplanned outage during a peak time or possibly large event such as the Crestone Music Festival.

Consumers are asked to protect their sensitive equipment. The best solution is to turn off and unplug the appliance before the outage. Surge protection and UPS units will offer protection as well.

Keep refrigerators and freezers closed.

Turn off items before the outage and when the power comes back on, turn on one at a time. If every item in your home or business tries to come on at the exact same time, it can cause power fluctuations.

If you are on medical support devices such as oxygen, please ensure you have portables to get you through at least a one hour window. Also, if you call SLVREC we will note your account and when possible, we can contact you of planned outages.

Because of the tight timeline of the notice of the outage, we are asking our consumers to contact their friends, family and neighbors of the outage. If they are unsure whether they are served by the Moffat Substation, they can call customer service at 719-852-3538 or 800-332-7634.

Outages are never easy, we understand and appreciate your cooperation and patience. Please call if you have additional questions.
