Cool Block Leader training session

February 8, 2020 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

Calling Crestone and north SLV residents—something big is coming to a neighborhood near you!
Kickstart 2020 with a fresh commitment to making your community and the planet a better place!
Following great success in California, with nearly 100 neighborhoods using the Cool Block program, we are delighted to announce that Crestone has been selected as the first rural community in the world to pilot the Cool Block. We are also the first Cool Block Program in Colorado. We were chosen because we are already recognized for being the solar and strawbale-building capital of Colorado, which is an amazing conscious action towards helping with energy efficiency. This program helps us measure, calculate, and recognize our region for our baseline actions already and then the actions we take together to reduce our carbon footprint.
The Cool Block program comprises more than 120 best practices for energy efficiency actions that reduce your carbon footprint. The County of Saguache, Crestone and the Baca are launching a new program for residents, and we invite your participation. The Cool Block program focuses on three main themes: community building, sustainability, and disaster preparation and resilience.
Come to an info session to learn more about the program and how to get involved. Spanning 5 months, Cool Block consists of 8 meetings to get to know your neighbors, discuss sustainability topics, work on actions together, ask questions, and share your successes.
