Primary Election day

June 28 @ 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

June 28 is the day registered voters can select a candidate that they believe should be a political party’s candidate for elected office to run in the general election to be held November 8.

For the Democratic Party the only contested race statewide is for US Representative Congressional District 3. Candidates are: Soledad Sandoval Tafoya, Alex Walker and Adam Frisch.  There are no contested races for county elected officials.

At a statewide level Republicans present a slate of candidates for multiple races:

Ron Hanks and Joe O’Dea for US Senator hoping to face off against incumbent US Senator Michael Bennet (D).

Incumbent Lauren Boebert and Don Coram for US Representative Congressional District 3.  Greg Lopez and Heidi Ganahl for Colorado Governor seeking to unseat incumbent Jared Polis (D).

Tina Peters, Mike O’Donnell and Pam Anderson for Colorado Secretary of State running in opposition to incumbent Jena Griswold (D).

Two candidates are vying for House District 62: Ryan Williams and Carol Riggenbach.

There are no contested races at the county level.

In Colorado, an individual can register to vote if he or she is at least 16 years old and will be 18 by Election Day. A voter must be a citizen of the United States who has lived in Colorado at least 22 days prior to Election Day.

Colorado voters can register to vote through Election Day. However, in order to automatically receive a mail-in ballot, a voter must register by June 20.

Every registered voter in Colorado will automatically receive a ballot by mail.  Your mail ballot will be sent to the address in your voter registration file, which you can check and update at GoVoteColorado.gov.

How do I register to vote?

If you have a Colorado driver’s license, an ID card issued by the Colorado Department of Revenue or a Social Security number, you can register online on the secretary of state’s website, www.sos.state.co.us..

Call your county clerk and recorder’s office at #719-655-2512 to request that a paper copy of the registration form be mailed to you. You can mail, email, fax or hand-deliver the completed form.

Vote in-person on Election Day: The State’s primary election is Tuesday, June 28. Polls are open from 7am to 7pm. There is no deadline to register to vote in person. Early voting is available at the Saguache County Courthouse for 15 days prior to Election Day.
