On October 21, 2012, at 07:32 am, the Colorado State Patrol was notified of and responded to a one vehicle roll over crash on Colorado 285, approximately ten miles south of Saguache, in Saguache County.

Investigation revealed that the driver, who was driving a 2004 Dodge pickup truck northbound on Colorado Highway 285, possibly fell asleep, causing the pickup to go off the road.  The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, collided with a delineator post, and then rolled a couple times, coming to rest on its top.

The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Saguache County Coroner.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to have contributed to the crash.  Seatbelts were not in use at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.  The name of the driver is withheld until next of kin have been notified.
